MindStudio Adds Claude 3 in HOURS After Release

This week has been nothing short of extraordinary šŸ¤Æ

With the release of Claude 3 Opus and Pi releasing a model seemingly matching GPT-4 performance, OpenAI might be losing its crown of best model provider and feel some heat. It might lead to the release of GPT-4.5 or GPT-5.

Together with one of the most exciting weeks of 2024, MindStudio is planning an even bigger release - coming next week. Keep reading to learn more.

Claude 3 Opus outperforms GPT-4 and Gemini 1.0 Ultra

  1. Anthropic Releases Claude 3 Models: Haiku, Sonnet, and the state-of-the-art Opus
    Anthropicā€™s Claude 2.1 has always been an excellent writer, but it was a fairly poor model at most other tasks. With the release of Claude 3 models, this changed quite significantly.

    Haiku is the cheapest and fastest model, costing the same as GPT-3.5 and including vision. This will likely be the most cost-effective vision model available at release. It isnā€™t publicly available yet.

    Claude 3 Sonnet replaced Claude 2.1 in nearly all my workflows. With the 200k context window, supercharged reasoning skills, and even better human sounding outputs, this is the model I now suggest for all copywriting tasks.

    Claude 3 Opus can, but probably shouldnā€™t, replace GPT-4 Turbo in many workflows. With a very steep price for 1m output tokens, you should only deploy it on mission critical reasoning tasks, and only if the other models fail.

    (PS: If youā€™re using GPT-4 32k, though, feel free to replace it given thatā€™s the most expensive model out there! šŸ˜‰)

    Claude 3 Sonnet is available in MindStudio right now. We tested Opus, and will make it live for the public again next week.

  2. Pi releases Inflection 2.5, claiming GPT-4 Performance
    Pi is a conversational chatbot focused on personalized interactions. It gained popularity in 2023 as one of the best ā€œAI Therapistsā€ and features one of the best UI in the chatbot space.

    They claim their new model, Inflection 2.5, matches GPT-4ā€™s performance with only 40% of the training compute of GPT-4.

    Their API is not publicly available. Once it is, this model could be a great option for simple chatbots.

  3. Perplexity to double its valuation to $1b and raises again
    Perplexity is an AI search engine and API provider, and theyā€™re challenging Google in building an AI-first search experience.

    While many tried, including Microsoft, users seem to dislike AI search for the time being. Can Perplexity shift public opinion?

While not part of todayā€™s roundup, itā€™s worth noting NVIDIA stock keeps growing at unfathomable pace. On Feb 23rd, the company added $277 billion in stock market value in a DAY, the highest increase in history.

NVIDIA is now worth $2.3T, surpassing Saudi Aramco, Amazon, and Google. Let us know what you think about it:

šŸ”„ Product Updates

Last week, we introduced several exciting features to further improve the platform:

  • New Claude 3 Models: Claude 3 Sonnet is now available on all plans, and Claude 3 Opus will be available next week;

  • Sales-oriented templates: Weā€™re pushing live two new templates for salespeople and sales teams;

We havenā€™t shipped as much because weā€™re working towards the biggest update in MindStudio history. Hereā€™s whatā€™s coming next week:

  • Complete overhaul of the UI: while I canā€™t spoiler much, the entire platform will look and feel different. There will be a new starting point, new onboarding experience, new interface to chat with your AIs, and much more;

  • Use MindStudio as operating system: The new UI will focus on giving you the tools to keep MindStudio open while you work and help you stay productive on a wide variety of use cases;

  • New packaging: MindStudio is now out of beta, and weā€™ll announce our new packaging next week and plan to go live with it the week after. The new packaging will offer UNLIMITED applications on all plans, teams, collaboration features, and much more;

  • New pricing structure: Weā€™re going to restructure our pricing plans. The new plans will come at a fixed cost for the platform, which could be $0 on the free plan, and a variable cost depending on compute & tokens usage. Free users will have access to all models;

  • API access: Enabling API access opens the gate to massively exciting new use cases, but is unsustainable on the current pricing plan. Once we switch to usage based pricing, weā€™ll enable API access on all premium plans.

šŸ’” Tip of The Week

Using the ā€œGETā€ function in MindStudio can be confusing if you need to pass URL parameters in your endpoint.

You can easily fix that with a text replace function!

Letā€™s take the News API as example. In order to use it, the URL needs to contain both the API and the query:

GET https://newsapi.org/v2/everything?q=yourQuery&apiKey=yourKey

MindStudio offers a premade input to enter the API key, but nothing for the query parameter. Hereā€™s how to work around it:

  • Collect the query as an input variable, likely in short text format;

  • Pass the query to a text replace, which takes in the endpoint up to the API key, e.g. https://newsapi.org/v2/everything?q=yourQuery;

  • Use the function to replace yourQuery with the actual value in your variable;

  • Output the result in a new variable;

  • Use that variable in the GET function.

This is what it will look like at the end:
