🗞️ Industry news

  1. NVIDIA releases its most powerful GPU ever: Blackwell
    NVIDIA hosted its developer conference and announced a plethora of innovations and partnerships in the AI space. Continuing their partnership with companies like Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI, NVIDIA keeps leading the way in GPU development and released Blackwell.

    Blackwell enables organizations everywhere to build and run real-time generative AI on trillion-parameter large language models at up to 25x less cost and energy consumption than its predecessor.

    They also announced 2 superchips that together act as a single GPU with 1.4 exaflops of AI performance and 30TB of fast memory. Yes, exaflops means 16 zeros.

  2. Apple talking with Google to bring Gemini to the iPhone

    Apple is exploring the possibility of integrating Google's generative AI model, Gemini, into its upcoming iPhone. The discussions between the two tech giants are in the early stages, and the specifics of the potential collaboration have not been finalized.

    Gemini seems to like the idea

    Apple has also engaged in talks with other AI companies as it seeks to harness the capabilities of large language models to analyze extensive data sets and generate text independently.

    However, the potential partnership may also attract scrutiny from U.S. regulators, as the Justice Department is currently engaged in a lawsuit against Google for allegedly harming competition through its existing agreement with Apple.

  3. Microsoft launches its first “AI PCs”
    Microsoft has unveiled two new Surface devices exclusively for business customers: the Surface Pro 10 for Business and Surface Laptop 6 for Business.

    Both devices feature Intel's latest Core Ultra processors, a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI-powered features, and Microsoft's new Copilot in Windows 11.

  4. Sam Altman was interviewed on the Lex Fridman Podcast
    In other news, Sam Altman was a guest on the Lex Fridman show for the second time. In the 2-hour long interview, Altman says OpenAI is definitely going to release a new, more capable, model later this year - but did not confirm it will be GPT-5.

    He also claimed that GPT-4 “kinda sucks”, and that GPT-5 should be as big of a leap as GPT-3 to GPT-4.

    When asked if OpenAI would be interested in competing with Google for a slice of the search market, Altman said he finds that quite boring and that he’d like for AI to do much more.

🔥 Product Updates

This week, our new pricing and packaging model went live, together with dozens of quality of life improvements, a new interface for the dashboard, and the introduction of workspaces - a new collaborative environment for your team in MindStudio.

  • Workspaces: all your apps now live in a “workspace.” By default, they’ll be in your Personal Workspace. You can invite members to your workspaces to collaborate on workflows or to share access to your internal apps. You can also create new workspaces for collaborations.

    the new Workspace environment in MindStudio

  • New pricing packages: the new pricing can be found here. In short, every workspace can be either Starter or Pro. Starter workspaces are free for unlimited users and come with all basic features unlocked. Pro workspaces enable embedding, API access, and logging;

  • Unlimited embeds: before, our pricing was per app, meaning you needed multiple subscriptions if you wanted to embed apps on your site or use the API. Now, billing is per user and per workspace. All apps within a Pro workspace get access to Pro features!

  • Usage pricing for the models: regardless of your current workspace plan, every interaction will now be billed depending on its prompt and response. We host very cheap models like Claude 3 Haiku and state-of-the-art models like Claude 3 Opus that cost more. All models are available on any plan;

  • API access & Zapier Integration: connect your MindStudio workflows to over 6,000+ apps using our Zapier integration or call the API from your native apps, Zapier alternatives like Make and N8N, or even a smart fridge with an HTTP request. Your apps can now run wherever you need them to;

  • New Debugger: our new debugger shows exactly the cost in prompt and response for each interaction. This way, you can predict the cost of your applications during the month.

    We even shared a custom calculator to estimate costs and plan revenue for your SaaS business. You can find it here and duplicate it in your account to edit;

  • New Chat UI: our new dashboard is a chat interface, similar to ChatGPT, and offers multiple tabs. You can open multiple MindStudio applications in one go. This is the first step towards a desktop app.

    note: if you need to access your AIs for the first time, you can click on the “+” icon at the top left corner.

Next steps include:

  • Budgeting tools: we’ll let you limit how much each user can spend in terms of credits / tokens within your apps;

  • Desktop app: a desktop app is coming very soon - possibly this month, but most likely in April. We’re looking to release MindStudio as a companion to your daily workflows and feel like a desktop app could serve some better;

  • Make Integration: you can already use Make with the HTTP call module, but we’d like to offer a seamless experience like with Zapier.

  • Bug Fixing: we aim to be honest with our community and, as every major release and refactoring of an entire codebase, this v1 didn’t come without a few small bugs. Please continue to report in Discord.

💡 Tip of The Week

Try out our Zapier integration and play with the API in Make.com. You can find the API documentation here (use Claude 3 Sonnet or Opus to refactor in the language of your choice) and a tutorial on how to use Zapier here.

For example, here’s what a Make.com workflow using our API looks like:

The workflow operates within a Google Sheet. Whenever I add a new row, I split it in request (A) and answer (B). My HTTP request calls the MindStudio workflows, passes in the variable in A, and outputs the response in B. In the middle, I have to wait for 20s for the generation to happen.

This is the end result:

Doing this in Zapier is even easier, as there’s only 1 module to learn AND no waiting time. Give it a go, and it will change how you see your MindStudio apps.

Having multiple assistants to help you out in your Excel Sheets, Google Docs, Slack channels, Discord communities, etc. rather than only in our chat interface can be a huge boost in productivity.
